Butterfly Houses are important to our Founder, Dianne
Baldridge. She has always believed in giving back to the community, and
for years Dianne has envisioned Butterfly Houses filling a need she sees
in communities across America.
A few years ago that need became even more apparent
and compelling for Dianne. Her parents grew ill and, after lengthy
stays in hospitals and nursing homes, her mother passed away. Her father
died a few months later. “We were fortunate that my parents could live
in a facility near our home,” Dianne explains, “but we
saw other families who drove great distances or stayed in hotels for
weeks on end. It was so costly for them, not only in the dollars they
had to spend, but also in the time they spent away from their wives
or their husbands and their children.”
Butterfly Houses can make those difficult times a little
easier on everyone. Dianne’s vision is to build Butterfly Houses
across America, starting with one in her home state of Michigan. Funded
completely by voluntary donations from corporate citizens and people
who care and share Dianne’s dream, Butterfly Houses will provide
a home away from home for families who need to stay in distant cities
to care for aging parents. Often, families want to stay near their parents
but can’t afford hotels and restaurants for extended periods
of time. Butterfly Houses will give these families a place where they
can eat, sleep and enjoy family time together in a loving, safe and
caring environment.
